The Denver Broncos have brought back a familiar face on the defensive side of the ball as the team re-signed ILB Justin Strnad to a one-year, $2.7 million deal Wednesday Morning. Strnad was drafted by Denver in 2020 and has spent his entire career with the Broncos.

The contract is fully guaranteed.
This comes as a depth move after the team made a splash and agreed to terms with LB Dre Greenlaw Monday, who will officially be able to sign his contract at 2:00 p.m. MT today when the new league year starts. Strnad is able to sign before then because he is re-signing with the team.
Strnad has been a depth piece for the Broncos since his first appearance in the 2021 after he missed his entire rookie year with a wrist injury, but saw the most action of his career in 2024. The 28-year-old had 73 total tackles, three sacks and even defended three passes as well.
Strnad will be competing with Greenlaw and Alex Singleton for the starting linebacker spots. Whether he gets the spot or not, as Singleton is coming off an ACL tear, he will be on the field for Denver in 2025 at least as a rotational piece.
Retaining the Wake Forest product is also an important move for Denver after Cody Barton left and agreed to a deal with the Tennessee Titans Monday. Barton was a key component to Denver’s defense in 2024, and the team needs more depth after his departure.
This is the second consecutive offseason that Strnad has signed a one-year deal with Denver, as he inked a one-year, $1.305 million deal in 2024. The contract he signed Wednesday is a hefty raise from the previous one, which he earned.
On top of providing depth at linebacker, Strnad is a core piece of Denver’s special teams, and getting an important special-teamer for a small sum of money is a good signing for Denver.
