Seahawks 2025 free agents: Tre Brown heads out of town, stays in NFC West

In the 2021 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks held just three picks, after trading many of their other picks away due to concerns they would not have the information necessary to make informed decisions about the members of the draft class.

The trades that sent these picks elsewhere included the monster trade that packaged a pair of first round selections with a third round pick that went to the New York Jets in exchange for Jamal Adams. However, the Seahawks had also traded their fifth round pick to the then Oakland, but now Las Vegas Raiders for Gabe Jackson and sent a sixth round pick to the Miami Dolphins to trade back into the seventh round to select tight end Stephen Sullivan in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The three picks the Hawks did make included:

Second round pick WR Dee Eskridge, who was selected with Creed Humphrey still available,

Fourth round CB Tre Brown and

Sixth round T Stone Forsythe

Eskridge was let go at the end of training camp in 2024, leaving just Brown and Forsythe on the roster, and now having reached free agency Brown has reportedly found a home with the NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers.

Contract details have not yet been disclosed. Brown was a starter for the Seahawks in 2023 but lost his starting job to Josh Jobe during the 2024 season. Seattle opted to keep Jobe on a new one-year deal.

Best of luck to the former Oklahoma Sooner, but hopefully he spends the season watching other members of the Niners secondary surrender touchdown after touchdown while the Niners collapse into last place in the division.
