The Los Angeles Rams are welcoming back a familiar face.
Amid the chaos of the NFL Free Agency period and the start of the new league year today, the Rams have agreed to terms with a key player from their Super Bowl-winning season.
On Tuesday, it was announced that the Rams were bringing back their old friend in offensive lineman Coleman Shelton on a two-year deal to return to the team.
Before leaving the Rams to sign with the Chicago Bears last season, Coleman Shelton played in over 60 games with Los Angeles from 2019 to 2023. He started in all 17 regular-season games during the 2021 season, including two starts on the offensive line during the Rams' Super Bowl-winning campaign.
In the years following that magical run, Shelton's role in the trenches grew, taking on even more responsibility as a key player in the Rams' offensive line. After signing a two-year extension with the Rams in 2022, Shelton eventually won the starting center despite being hobbled by a slew of injuries.
Nonetheless, Shelton returned as a starter for all 17 games in 2023 before packing his bags for the 'Windy City,' signing a one-year deal with the Bears in 2024.
Shelton's return to LA's offensive line should provide a welcomed boost to a unit that many considered middle-of-the-pack last fall. According to PFF, the Rams finished 2024 with the 13th-best offensive line in the NFL.
With slight improvements to their pass and run blocking, the Rams could once again become a formidable force within the NFC.
