Ange Postecoglou could be under even more pressure should Tottenham Hotspur suffer Europa League defeat on Thursday.

A run of three back-to-back Premier League wins in February has done little to ease pressure on Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou as an underwhelming second season in charge of the North London outfit continues.

Spurs beat Brentford, Manchester United and Ipswich Town last month, conceding just once in those fixtures, in a sudden return to form. Those victories came after crushing cup exits against Liverpool and Aston Villa.

However, since then, Spurs were beaten against Manchester City and drew with AFC Bournemouth last weekend. On Thursday night, Postecoglou’s side look to bounce back from a 1-0 first leg defeat in the Europa League last 16 against AZ Alkmaar.

Tottenham Hotspur and Man Utd ‘clearly’ looking at Inter Milan manager

Despite a poor season, Postecoglou has maintained the backing of the Tottenham Hotspur board with injuries largely to blame. However, reports from TuttoSport in Italy this week claim that the Premier League club is considering Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi as a potential replacement should consistency not come to the former Celtic boss. Manchester United are also named alongside Spurs as clubs who have Inzaghi’s name ‘clearly present’ in their files.

Inzaghi has just over 15 months left on his contract at the San Siro and is set to leave the Serie A giants in June 2026 as it stands. The manager has previously shared an interest in managing in the Premier League but has spent his entire playing and coaching career in Italy so far.

The 48-year-old has been with Inter since July 2021 and is looking to make it back-to-back Serie A wins for the club this season. It remains to be seen whether reported Spurs interest is a shorter-term goal for the end of the campaign or a long term option should Postecoglou be given another season but fail to impress.

Simone Inzaghi transfer deals

Inzaghi would certainly come with excitement, given some of the transfers he has overseen as a manager. He welcomed Benjamin Pavard to Inter from Bayern Munich for €30 million in 2023 and Davide Fratessi from Sassuolo for a similar price.

Looking through the list of players signed by Inzaghi, there are some huge names in world football too. Romelu Lukaku was loaned to Inter with Inzaghi in charge in 2022 and the manager brought both Andre Onana and Alexis Sanchez to Inter on free transfers. He has also recruited former Premier League heroes Edin Dzeko, Pepe Reina and Nani in the twilight years of their career.

Well respected in world football, Inzaghi recently earned the praise of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. The Frenchman told CBS Sports: “People talk about the team, they don’t often talk about the coach. That coach is outstanding for me. What he offers tactically, it’s a bit crazy when you think about it.

“And you talk about Italian teams, when you see your centre-backs in midfield, your left-centre-back high and wide on the left, the one in the middle underneath him crossing for the other centre-back in the box, and when you press pause, the three holding midfielders are playing as centre-backs to bring the ball out – I didn’t see a lot of people do that in history, especially in Italy. So, it’s a team that you have to respect and a coach that you have to respect also.”

In other news, Ange Postecoglou could be sacked if he doesn’t achieve Europa League success.
