Sierra Leone are eyeing a move for Arsenal youngster Ismeal Kabia as they target youngsters in Europe for the future.
[ESPN cover the situation today](https://www.espn.nl/voetbal/artikel/_/id/14901566/babadi-isaac-wil-met-sierra-leone-geschiedenis-schrijven-met-zijn-land) and comments from various players on the matter as the African nation look to scoop up talents from around the continent who may be eligible for them.
Their current focus is on PSV Eindhoven’s Isaac Babadi, who they are hoping to lure away from the Dutch side before the end of the season to feature for Sierra Leone’s U20s.
They want to convince the player on potentially choosing them in future, with his international allegiance yet to be determined.
He’s not the only one on their list, though, with his brother and agent Samuel Babadi recently appearing on Tekengeld to explain how the 129th ranked side in the world are planning.
“I am now working with the Sierra Leonean association. Because I brought two boys from that team to Portugal via our academy in Nigeria and a regional tournament. They saw the success story and thought okay: we have to go to Samuel,” he said.
“This is a call to the Sierra Leonean players in Europe. The boys from Arsenal, West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur. They are still there, because they normally do not choose Sierra Leone.
“So, a maximum of 2005 as a year of birth. That is a matter of who will and will not go. A boy from Arsenal, Ismeal Kabia, he was on the bench against PSV. He is also from Sierra Leone and is close to it. He is now also in doubt whether or not he can go. Coincidentally, David Kalokoh from Jong Ajax is also there. He has also been trying to get him in for two years.”
Whether the Arsenal youngster still wants the move then, remains to be seen. It’s a big decision for a player who is yet to start for the Gunners.
The 19-year-old has one nine-minute appearance in Mikel Arteta’s squad in the EFL Cup, with the majority of his appearances currently for the U21s, U19s and U18s.
Perhaps he would prefer to establish himself at club level first before deciding on his international future, despite Sierra Leone’s efforts.
