**On Sunday afternoon, football felt secondary after Taylor Hinds was subjected to sexually inappropriate comments whilst playing in Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.**
On what should have been a joyful afternoon for the Liverpool full back, who was able to lead her team into the semi final of England’s beloved cup competition, Hinds bravely alerted the authorities and the spectator in question was removed.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool Football Clubs have told social media that ongoing investigations are underway surrounding the incident.
_The Halfway Line_ had the opportunity to speak with Arsenal full back Katie McCabe, who expressed her disdain toward the situation.
_“I think first and foremost, I want to say Taylor \[Hinds\] has been incredibly brave to raise the awareness around what was said to her in the crowd, and raise the issue to the referee. During the game I actually didn’t know what was going on or why there was a delay, and then having having spoken to her we offered our full support from a player’s point of view,”_ McCabe expressed.
“I _know the club have launched an investigation into the said ‘supporter’ who said, what they said. There’s no place for it in our game. It’s so frustrating to see that that’s even an issue. I’ve always liked to think women’s football was a nice environment and a safe space for people to come and enjoy themselves. So to see Taylor go through that was really difficult._
_“As I said, we offer a full support as fellow players and from a club point of view as well, and I think even the racial issues as well with Bunny Shaw a few weeks ago, it’s there’s no place for it in our game, and we need to eradicate that behaviour, for sure. It’s through strength with Taylor, speaking of that we can raise awareness around it, and even the supporters around can call out those sort of behaviours as well._
_“I think for us as players, if we do go through it, we make people aware of it whether it’s the club, the referee, people that are launching those sort of investigations, it’s important to make people aware of it, so we can stop it from happening in the future.”_
