Ravens release CB Arthur Maulet, Marcus Williams expected to be released at new league year

According to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, the Baltimore Ravens are planning to release slot cornerback Arthur Maulet.

Maulet, 31, joined the Ravens on a one-year deal during training camp in 2023 and played a dynamic slot role both in coverage and generating pressure. His two fumble recoveries, one interception and two sacks (to go along with 37 tackles, five pass breakups and five tackles for loss) added to the NFL’s best defense in turnovers, points allowed per game and sacks. After such production, the Ravens followed up by signing Maulet to a two-year, $4 million deal in March 2024.

Disappointingly, injuries kept Maulet from seeing the field all throughout the 2024 season. Maulet underwent surgery during training camp and missed the first seven games of the season. He returned and played in three games, Weeks 8-10, before suffering injuries that sidelined him once more and ended his season.

Maulet on social media thanked the Ravens and Baltimore for his time on the team.

While Maulet was released on Tuesday, another member of the secondary, safety Marcus Williams, is expected to be released once the new league year begins at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Maulet and Marcus Williams were always viewed as the most likely salary cap casualties from the Ravens. Williams will be let go tomorrow, a move that was a formality after the two sides altered his contract in January to facilitate his exit this offseason. https://t.co/fx0Dj9i6Dg
