'I'm really impressed': Denmark manager shares verdict on Man Utd star he was'sceptical'about, he's'convinced'him

The international break returns next week with numerous Manchester United players set to link up with their nations.

Despite the struggles Manchester United have faced this season, sitting 14th in the Premier League, the squad still boasts an impressive group of footballers who are stars for their nations.

Fans can look forward to seeing Bruno Fernandes for Portugal and Manuel Ugarte for Uruguay in particular with both usually star men for their nations.

Denmark will also have United eyes on them, with manager Brian Riemer naming three of Amorim’s squad in his team.

Interestingly, Chido Obi will be with the Denmark U21 side for the first time as he is now just one step away from a senior step-up.

It will be the first international involvement of Dorgu since his Old Trafford move.

Brian Riemer has been impressed by Patrick Dorgu for Manchester United

Dorgu has been a revelation for United since his arrival, offering something completely new from left wing-back which has led to United looking far better.

Now, speaking with the Danish outlet, Ekstra Bladet, ahead of the international break, Riemer has been discussing Dorgu and admitted he’s been very encouraged by what he has seen.

“He [Dorgu] really convinced me. I was a bit sceptical at Lecce, because when I watched the games he was more of a winger than a full-back, and his defensive skills were questionable.

“But I’ve seen him a few times now, and I’m really impressed with what he’s done defensively. He convinced me.

“There are still little things that can be improved, but he’s been up to the task in the best league in the world.”

Duels won percentage – 69.7%

Dorgu has been impressive since joining and like Riemer, his quality defensively has been a surprise, with it not looking overly impressive at Lecce.

Riemer shares verdict on Rasmus Hojlund form for Manchester United

While Dorgu is a positive inclusion, for Riemer the inclusion of Hojlund is less about him deserving his place, and more that the striker needs the time away with his compatriots, as he explained to Bold.

“Rasmus Hojlund’s form speaks for itself. I can’t stand by and say anything else, because you know the numbers.

“I would prefer to select a team where the players are bursting with confidence and in top form. But sometimes you have to compromise. My job is to find the balance of how many of those who are not in top form I can select.

“I think Rasmus Hojlund really benefits from coming here and getting some national love.

“I’ve been in this game for many years. That’s how football is. It goes up and down. I don’t know any striker who hasn’t been in scoring crises.”

Hojlund has not scored for United in the past 20 games, which is a run surely eating away at him, which means it is pivotal he gets a goal soon.

United should be letting him take penalties to try and spark some confidence, otherwise it won’t be long until Obi takes his spot.
