Prince William visits Aston Villa players ahead of Champions League tie

PRINCE WILLIAM VILLA

The Prince of Wales is a long time Aston Villa fan and has supported the club since he was at school.

The Prince of Wales has been pictured visiting Aston Villa players at their training ground to wish them luck for tonight's Champions League match.

William stopped off to see the first team at Bodymoor Heath on Tuesday 11 March while in the West Midlands carrying out an official engagement at a referee training course in Willenhall.

Images on Kensington Palace’s social media showed William chatting with attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers, giving right back Matty Cash a hug.

He is also pictured watching the squad from the sidelines with Monchi, Villa’s president of football operations, and Damian Vidagany, director of football operations.

The post read: “Great to pop in to see @avfcofficial yesterday ahead of tonight’s Champions League game! Up the Villa!”

Villa will face Club Brugge at Villa Park tonight, (Wednesday 12 March) in a bid to secure its place in the Champions League quarterfinals.

William, patron of the Football Association, is a passionate Villa supporter and, in January, joined fellow fans for a pint in a Birmingham pub before a midweek match.
