The Seattle Seahawks are reinventing their offense heading into the 2025 NFL season, and they've invited a former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver to be a part of the new product.

It was the winter of 2024 when the [Chiefs decided to cut ties with Valdes-Scantling](https://arrowheadaddict.com/posts/chiefs-news-marquez-valdes-scantling-will-be-released-01hqr419ss7b) after two seasons with the team. Coming into his third year, his contract was simply too great for his output and contributions, and the Chiefs decided to move on. MVS spent the 2024 season floating between the Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints, with 19 total catches for 411 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns for his efforts.

The Seahawks have made plenty of waves this offseason with seismic changes on the offensive side. Trades have changed the franchise inside-out, with quarterback Geno Smith dealt to the Las Vegas Raiders and wideout D.K. Metcalf sent to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tyler Lockett is also a free agent, which signals a brand new era in the Emerald City.

Valdes-Scantling will be the elder statesman in a room of young competitors and a new WR1 in Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the team's first-round pick in 2024. Jake Bobo, Dareke Young, and Cody White are other pass catchers competing in the WR room alongside tight end targets like Noah Fant and AJ Barner.

Valdes-Scantling has seven NFL seasons under his belt, including his first four in Green Bay after being drafted by the Packers in the 2018 NFL Draft. He has 205 career catches for 3,566 yards and 20 scores.
