Darwin Nunez missed his penalty as Liverpool were knocked out of the Champions League
Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones have spoken out after missing their penalties as Liverpool crashed out of the Champions League.
Liverpool drew 1-1 on aggregate with Paris Saint-Germain in their last-16 clash, with the Reds ultimately losing a penalty shootout after Nunez and Jones saw their spot kicks saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The pair have sent a message to Liverpool fans on social media, outlining their determination to bounce back when the Reds face Newcastle in the Carabo Cup final this weekend. "Get up and carry on, as always," Nunez wrote on social media.
Jones posted on Instagram : "Stepping up and trying to help the team in every moment I can is the type of person that I am. This comes with risk and failing, last night I got a taste of that! I can live with missing but I can't live without taking the responsibility. 10 to go. Starting with a cup final Sunday!"

The pair's comments come after Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk urged his teammates not to dwell on their disappointing exit and make sure they are raring to go against Newcastle. "It was a very intense, great game of football, I think to be part of it as well," Van Dijk told Amazon Prime.
"It was totally there for Liverpool and what we showed in Paris and unfortunately we're out on penalties and that is the reality. I think in the first half we created dangerous moments and they have the quality as well, and then it comes down to penalties.
"It's part of football, I said to the guys, obviously, you can be disappointed because we're out of the competition, but chin up and get ready for the next challenge, a beautiful one on the weekend.

"I think we were pretty good today as well, and you want to go as far as possible, but we knew when we drew PSG it was going to be very difficult. We saw in Paris when we struggled but we won, and today we saw a very good Liverpool side but we're out of the competition.
"Today from the first second, and then extra time when fatigue kicks in for both sides, it becomes more open but especially regular time, we showed a very good game. We can speak about the game for ages but we're out of the competition, that is the reality."
