Arsenal interested in former Man City star

Arsenal face Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie on Wednesday night.

Mikel Arteta’s side cruised to a 7-1 win over their Dutch opponents in the first leg last week, and the North London side are therefore expected to reach the quarter-finals of the competition with ease.

This season has been another frustrating one for the Gunners, who look set to finish as Premier League runners-up for the third consecutive season.

The London side are currently 15 points behind league leaders Liverpool, having been beaten to the title by Manchester City in each of the past two campaigns.

In the meantime, it appears that Arsenal are considering a move for a former Premier League winger.

According to CaughtOffside, the Gunners are interested in Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane.

The German winger is currently in the final six months of his contract with the German giants, and the report claims that talks over an extension have stalled.

Sane could be a target for Arsenal this summer

The Gunners are therefore set to try to take advantage of the situation and move to sign the ex-Manchester City winger.

Arteta knows Sane well from their time together at Man City, and the report suggests that the Spaniard is keen on the idea of a reunion.

Sane, 29, joined Bayern from the Citizens in 2020 and has since scored 56 goals in 209 games for the Bundesliga side across all competitions, as well as providing 50 assists.

Arsenal have suffered with injuries in attack this season, with Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli having all been sidelined at points throughout the campaign.

The Germany international is said to currently earn around £17 million Euros annually, but the report claims that the player would be willing to take a pay cut to secure a move this summer.
