Pep will change £59m player's position next season if Camavinga signs for Man City - journalist

Eduardo Camavinga is emerging as a key target for Manchester City ahead of the summer transfer window. The Frenchman has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu.

Eduardo Camavinga recently featured for Real Madrid as they knocked Man City out of the Champions League, beating Pep Guardiola’s side 6-3 on aggregate, and handing the Cityzens a reminder of how quickly they’ve fallen.

In the Premier League, matters are no better. City lost 1-0 at Nottingham Forest last weekend and subsequently dropped out of the top four, now sitting in 5th place of the Premier League table, with Bournemouth down in 9th just three points behind.

The summer promises change at the Etihad. Camavinga could be one of several who arrive with Guardiola having identified Camavinga as a perfect midfield signing ahead of the summer.

But the Frenchman’s arrival would spell a change for January signing Omar Marmoush.

Pep set to change Omar Marmoush’s position at Man City if Eduardo Camavinga signs

Man City signed Marmoush in a £59million deal from Eintracht Frankfurt in the January transfer window. But Marmoush’s hat-trick in the 4-0 win over Newcastle United has proved to be a standalone moment for the Egyptian, who’s not scored or assisted in any other game.

MORE MAN CITY STORIES

Speaking on KS1 TV, journalist Steve Kay has now revealed that Guardiola plans on changing Marmoush’s position at City for next season, should Camavinga sign, pushing Marmoush out to the left wing position.

Kay explained: “My understanding is that they’re planning on pushing Marmoush out to the left and Pep isn’t satisfied with the goals they’re scoring. They want someone to help Haaland out and that’s why they brought Marmoush in.

“Next season what you will see if Camavinga comes in is Marmoush going out to the left. We know Marmoush was a prolific scorer last season for Eintracht, that’s why Pep brought him in, but interestingly enough, Camavinga and Marmoush are a part of the same agency.

“Man City fans, let’s see what happens in the summer, definitely someone who is on the agenda for Man City, Camavinga, a good player, he’s not a goal-scorer, but the way it was explained to me made sense. Marmoush would move out to the left, [Jeremy] Doku isn’t scoring the goals.”

Omar Marmoush and one other Man City star tipped to be the ‘future’

Marmoush was certainly a marquee signing for City. It looks like a Guardiola signed a player with a view to building a new-look frontline next season, with Marmoush and Erling Haaland in place.

And speaking recently, Aaron Lennon said Marmoush and Haaland are the future of the club, saying: “I think Marmoush and Haaland will be the future of this City team…I think they’ll be looking for Marmoush to add more goals.”

Like Lennon says, Marmoush needs to start scoring more regularly. But with a new and settled midfield and attack around him, possibly including Camavinga, he could start to find his scoring touch and he’ll get City back on track.

Valued at £67million by Real Madrid, Camavinga could be one of several big money and big name signings at the Etihad this summer.
