Bray Wanderers have announced a partnership with SEK, an international school and university with ties to Real Madrid – and the partnership will see the County Wicklow Club foster ties with the Spanish giants.
SEK International School Dublin, in collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation, have drawn up a personal development initiative for boys and girls that combines education and football.
SEK is an international school and University with 14 schools around the world, including one in Dublin and a University in Madrid. SEK offers students second- level education through the International Baccalaureate (IB) program and, at its Dublin campus, hosts International and Irish students on a full-time basis.
Spanish giant Real Madrid’s academy has produced such talents as Iker Casillas, Achraf Hakimi and Dani Carvajal. The Seagulls have produced Andrew Moran, Festy Ebosele and Shane Flynn. Now the pair will both work alongside SEK.
This announcement comes hot on the heels of Bray Wanderers’ partnership with American-based Next Level soccer.
To get the ball rolling, the partnership will host a ‘Real Madrid Foundation Kick Off Campus’ at the Carlisle Grounds from March 31 to April 3 and, excitingly, will feature Real Madrid and Bray Wanderers coaches operating Real Madrid’s ‘football technical program’. The campus will focus on boys and girls in the 14-15 age category, and details will be announced this week.
“This partnership with SEK and Real Madrid Foundation is hugely exciting,” said Bray Wanderers’ Tony Richardson. “It is Real Madrid’s first initiative in Ireland and we are honoured to join in this adventure. The partnership will be underpinned by a structured camps program involving all three partners.
“This partnership offers talent and personal development, education and international exchange opportunities for boys and girls and we look forward to kicking things off this month”
“As an educational institution that promotes the values of sports, we believe that this agreement with the Real Madrid Foundation and Bray Wanderers will be highly beneficial for the local community,” said Head of SEK International School Dublin Alberto Dominguez Alvarez. “This initiative will provide local players with the opportunity to train under the methodology of the most prestigious football club in history. Additionally, we will open doors to international opportunities for local children who wish to participate in exchange programs”
