Manchester United face Spanish outfit Real Sociedad in the second leg of their Europa League last 16 tie on Thursday.
The Red Devils drew 1-1 in the first leg in San Sebastien, and Ruben Amorim’s side will likely need to improve if they are to progress into the quarter-finals of the competition.
Ahead of the game, it has emerged that the Manchester side are eyeing a move for a Premier League star.
According to CaughtOffside, Man United are one of a number of clubs interested in Brighton and Hove Albion winger Karol Mitoma.
Mitoma joined Brighton from Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale in 2021 and has since spent time on loan in Belgium.
The Japan international has scored 21 goals and provided 15 assists in 99 games for the Seagulls across all competitions, and he has been in fine form in recent weeks.
Fellow Premier League sides Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are all also interested in the forward, who is currently contracted to Brighton until the end of the 2026/27 campaign.
Mitoma has attracted interest from several clubs
It is claimed that the south coast club are working to agree a new deal with the player that would tie him down until 2030.
German giants Bayern Munich and French champions Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested in the Japanese forward, who was the subject of interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League in January.
The report claims that Brighton value Mitoma at around £46 million and that, coupled with their reluctance to sell, means that luring the player away from The Amex could prove difficult.
Mitoma primarily operates on the left flank, a position that has become something of a problem area for both Chelsea and Manchester United in recent seasons.
