Jeremie Frimpong to Manchester United transfer update as new stance emerges in £34m decision

Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong has once again been linked with a summer move to Man United.

Manchester United-linked Jeremie Frimpong is reportedly planning to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

Frimpong, 24, relocated to Manchester when he was six-years-old and progressed through the Manchester City academy before making the move to Celtic in 2019. City included a sell-on clause in Frimpong's contract, and the player moved to Leverkusen two years later.

The Manchester Evening News reported in April 2023 that United had held talks with Frimpong's representatives. It was said at the time that then Reds boss Erik ten Hag really liked Frimpong and was keen on the player, but a move to Old Trafford never materialised.

The versatile 10-cap Netherlands international can operate as a right winger or wing-back - making him ideally suited to Ruben Amorim's system at M16. And the Reds have been handed further encouragement if they are looking to revisit a deal for Frimpong, with Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg providing an update on his situation.

"Jeremie Frimpong is ready for the next step and he's planning a move in summer," he said on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Spain and England are two concrete options for him. There are already concrete enquiries. The 24-y/o right wing-back can leave Leverkusen for around €40million (around £34million) in summer."

Frimpong was instrumental during Leverkusen's dominant 2023/2024 season as the German outfit went the entire campaign unbeaten domestically, winning the Bundesliga title and the German Cup. He has since gone on to make 39 appearances for his club side this term, with Leverkusen eight points behind Bayern Munich in the German top-flight having also lost to Vincent Kompany's Bavarian giants in the Champions League last-16.
