Barcelona are not even considering a departure for Raphinha, as the club have already opened talks over a new contract for the Arsenal target.
According to Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Raphinha is not even considered a debate for Barcelona when it comes to addressing links with the player’s exit. The Catalan giants are extremely satisfied with the Brazilian’s performances, and they are already in talks over a new deal amid interest from Premier League clubs like Arsenal.
Last summer, Barcelona were actively trying to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Club following his stellar time with Spain at UEFA Euro 2024. The possible arrival of the winger would have cast doubts on Raphionha’s immediate future, as there were some question marks over the Brazilian’s status in the team.
While Williams never arrived, Raphinha has had the chance to prove that Barcelona indeed had one of the best players in the world. The South American attacker has enjoyed a stellar campaign with the Blaugrana with 46 goal involvements, and there is already talk of a potential favourite to for the Ballon d’Or should the Catalan outfit lift the Champions League.
Despite his big performances this season, the speculation surrounding his future has not gone away, with big links to Premier League clubs. Arsenal are among those sides, with Mikel Arteta a big fan of the winger even before he made the move from Leeds United to Barcelona.
Manchester City are also interested in Raphinha, although all those sides including Arsenal are set to suffer a blow in their pursuit of the Barcelona mainstay, who cost the club £55 million. Despite all the rumours of the Catalan side facing financial troubles, they are unlikely to sell the Brazilian anytime soon and are already planning to extend his stay.
Barcelona in talks to extend Raphinha contract
Barcelona are already in talks with Raphinha over a new deal, with sporting director Deco leading the way. The Portuguese executive was formerly the Brazilian’s agent, and things are expected to be smooth sailing in the background.
Moreover, Raphinha is not looking for a change of scenario and is very much happy at Barcelona to continue his career here. While the Premier League might have been the ideal destination had he left the Spanish giants, for now, there are no plans to leave the Catalan side.
