The return to training for Mason Mount is a weclome one for Manchester United and Ruben Amorim

Mason Mount returning to training on Wednesday was welcome for multiple reasons.

After three months of recovery since sustaining a hamstring injury during the Manchester derby in mid-December, Mount is now nearing a 13th appearance this season and seventh under Ruben Amorim.

Amorim will be eager to reintegrate Mount into the team after having the former England international feature in all of his first seven matches after taking charge.

A day before his first game away to Ipswich Town, the head coach said of Mount, "I have to tell you I love that kid," during an interview with club media.

"You can look in his eyes that he wants this so bad. And this is the most important thing for me.

"He played in this system [before], so it's perfect for him. I have two positions for Mason Mount, so he should be very happy!"

Mount primarily played as one of the two attacking roles behind the centre-forward but also featured deeper in midfield. The latter position is where Bruno Fernandes has predominantly been as of late in the absence of Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte.

However, with the Uruguay international also returning, there is an opportunity for the club captain to push forward once again. Mount could also aid that by joining Ugarte in midfield while Mainoo remains on the sidelines.

Conversely, Fernandes and Mount could occupy the more advanced roles with Amad missing. Either way, the discipline and energy, plus tactical flexibility, brought by the latter can help free up his team-mate further forward.
