Graham Potter could make four changes to his West Ham side to face Everton on Saturday with Ollie Scarles potentially set to miss out.

The Hammers are taking a trip to Merseyside on 15 March where Everton will no doubt be looking to extend their purple patch of form.

Potter’s men fell to a 1-0 defeat last time out against Newcastle after a Bruno Guimaraes strike was enough to set the two teams apart.

Following their defeat against the Magpies, West Ham could make four changes to their team to try and make it three wins from four Premier League games.

In between the sticks will no doubt be Alphonse Areola, while the ‘keeper hasn’t been in the best run of form recently, he’s a better option in the net than Lukasz Fabianski.

The defensive line is where we’re likely to see our first change with Potter potentially opting for a back four rather than the back five that has been used recently.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be in at right-back after having a terrific season with Jean Clair-Todibo and Max Kilman both retaining their places in centre-back.

However, Scarles could be axed with Emerson coming in to stake his claim at left-back.

The midfield could be made up of a trio which includes Edson Alvarez in a holding role with Carlos Soler and Lucas Paqueta sitting just ahead of the Mexico international.

These changes see Aaron Cresswell, James Ward-Prowse and Tomas Soucek all getting dropped to the bench.

Then, on the right wing will no doubt be Jarrod Bowen, the Hammers captain has been a star for West Ham this term and is their best attacker by a country mile.

On the left will be Mohammed Kudus, the Ghana international hasn’t reached the same heights as last season but with Crysencio Summerville still out, he’s Potter’s best option.

Last but not least, leading the line could be Evan Ferguson. The Irishman was brought in to help solve the Hammers’ attacking woes and even though he hasn’t set the world alight, there’s still plenty of time for him to prove his worth.

West Ham must beat Everton on Saturday

At the moment, West Ham are 16 points clear of the Premier League relegation zone which means they’re more than safe from the drop this term.

However, if they want to better their results from the 2024/25 campaign and finish in the top half next season, they could do with some momentum going into pre-season.

Team Position Points

West Ham 16th 33

Wolves 17th 23

Ipswich 18th 17

Leicester 19th 17

Southampton 20th 9

The bottom five of the Premier League as it stands.

The Hammers have had it rough this term and even though things are slowly coming together, their performances need to be upped by a gear or two.

Potter has proven himself to be an impressive manager when given time and as long as his squad give him 100 per cent of their effort on Saturday, they can beat David Moyes’ men.

A win would send them three points above the Merseyside outfit in the table and would prove that the Hammers still have plenty of fight left within them.
