Los Angeles Rams: Officially Decide on Cooper Kupp’s Future

The Los Angeles Rams made a splash in free agency, addressing the wide receiver position and adding talent alongside Puka Nacua. On Friday, Los Angeles signed speedy former second-round pick Tutu Atwell to a one-year, $10 million fully guaranteed contract extension. On Sunday, the Rams signed 6x Pro Bowl and 3x First Team All-Pro Davante Adams to a two-year, $44 million contract.

In early February, the Rams informed 1x Pro Bowl, First Team All-Pro, and Super Bowl MVP receiver Cooper Kupp that they would be actively looking to trade him this offseason. Kupp has battled injuries over the past three seasons and commands a massive $29.78 million cap hit in 2025. During last Wednesday’s press conference, Les Snead told the media that retaining him was their least “likely scenario” even if they could not find a trade suitor.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, after failing to find a trade suitor, the Rams have officially released Kupp. With a pre-June 1st cut, the team frees up $7.52 million in cap space and incurs a $22.26 million dead cap hit in 2025. With a post-June 1st cut, on June 2nd, they free up $15 million in cap space and incur a $14.78 million dead cap hit in 2025 and a $7.48 million in 2026.
