Liverpool have been monitoring one La Liga left-back for the last 18 months.
As widely reported, the Reds are making concrete plans to strengthen in the summer, and the left-back position is one of the major areas in which they are expected to sign a new player.
The club’s left-back position has become an area of concern as Andy Robertson, once a cornerstone of the team, shows signs of slowing down due to age and the physical demands of his high-intensity style.
While Kostas Tsimikas has proven to be a suitable deputy, his performances suggest he may not be a viable long-term solution for a club with Liverpool’s ambitions.
The Reds rely heavily on their full-backs for creativity and width, and securing a dynamic, younger left-back who can replicate Robertson’s peak contributions will be crucial for maintaining their tactical edge in the coming seasons.
Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez is considered the Reds’ primary target for that position, though, with football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently confirming that Liverpool are tracking him.
Slavia Prague’s El Hadji Malick Diouf is another name in the mix, while Ajax’s Jorrel Hato, who was recently a guest at Anfield, is also on the list of possible left-back options for Liverpool.
Another name has now emerged as a left-back Liverpool could sign in the summer.
According to the Daily Mail, one option Liverpool are considering in their search for a left-back is Sergi Cardona.
The Villarreal man, who only joined the club last summer, has made 26 appearances for the Yellow Submarines this season, scoring one goal and registering six assists.
According to the report, Liverpool have been keeping tabs on him for the last 18 months.
“Another name is SERGI CARDONA at Villarreal, who joined the club from Las Palmas on a free transfer last summer. He has been monitored by Liverpool in the last 18 months,” the Daily Mail report said.
