Man Utd looking to sign Ballon d’Or favorite – Report

Raphinha Brazil Neymar

Manchester United will be preparing to face Real Sociedad in UEFA Europa League as they look to progress to the next round of the competition.

The first leg ended in a stalemate between the two sides but Ruben Amorim will be keen to set his team up to secure progression to the next round.

News –Fee dropped – Man Utd now have to agree £25.1m deal to secure signing

Realistically, this is the only competition that offers some kind of hope to the Red Devils to still be relevant after what has been a truly appalling season. Amorim might not want to put pressure on his team about the silverware on the line but it could go a long way in papering the cracks over a poor campaign.

Meanwhile, it seems that Man Utd have already started squad planning for the upcoming season and this included signing some players who Amorim thinks would be a good asset to the current squad. Now, as per Caught Offside, Man Utd are looking to sign Barcelona superstar Raphinha.

The Brazilian is enjoying one of his best ever seasons as a professional footballer and has been one of the very best players in the world. He has scored 27 goals and provided 19 assists across all competitions so far this season in what has been an extremely productive campaign.

The report mentions that clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal are also interested in signing the 28-year-old. With 11 goals in the Champions League along with four assists, Raphinha is widely considered one of the favorites for the Ballon d’Or award, especially with Mohamed Salah and Liverpool getting knocked out by PSG.

It has been quite a remarkable turn of fortunes for Raphinha at Barcelona. His first couple of seasons were marred by inconsistency, injuries and a general lack of faith from the managers but this season, he has emerged as a fan favorite and arguably one of the first names on the team sheet for Hansi Flick.

Although Raphinha used to prefer playing on the right, he has transitioned into a devastating left winger this season and has also been deployed as a number 10 on occasions.

He thrives, irrespective of where you put him on the pitch and the Brazilian looks to be showcasing the best version of himself at the moment.

Considering the dire state in which Man Utd currently find themselves in, there is no legitimate reason for Raphinha to leave Barcelona to move to Old Trafford and try and resurrect a sinking ship. This is one signing that is quite unlikely to happen but let’s wait and see how it plays out.
