Former Newcastle United midfielder Nicky Butt has given his verdict on who will win the Carabao Cup on Sunday.
The Magpies are on their way to Wembley, as Newcastle United take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.
Eddie Howe’s side are the underdogs, with regular starters Anthony Gordon and Lewis Hall set to miss the game against the Reds.
That is a major blow, but Liverpool have problems of their own. Trent Alexander-Arnold is an injury doubt, having been forced off during their Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.

Nicky Butt predicts Newcastle United vs Liverpool
It was a tough night for Liverpool, 24 hours after Newcastle beat West Ham 1-0 to build up some momentum ahead of Sunday’s game at Wembley.
There has been a shift in the mood on Tyneside, while ex-Toon player Nicky Butt has changed his prediction for the Carabao Cup final.
“When you look at Newcastle, going into it [the final] with a positive, the game they played against West Ham,” he told TalkSPORT.
“Liverpool lost last night. You’re going to go into a game with not so much momentum.

“What I will say is Newcastle fans are going to be loud. They will be unbelievable.
“It’s a tough game. If it were not for last night, I would be saying Liverpool are strong favourites. But I’ve got a sneaky feeling for Newcastle. I hope they go on and win it.”
Newcastle United fans must prove Nicky Butt right at Wembley
Hopefully Butt is right and Newcastle do triumph at Wembley.
They are better prepared for this final compared to 2023, with Eddie Howe altering Newcastle’s approach. They are going to play the game rather than occasion, but will come up against a stronger side than they did two years ago.
But Newcastle are stronger too. They did not have Sandro Tonali in the 2023 final, while Alexander Isak was not the player he is today.
There are certainly reasons for the Magpies to be positive, as the Toon Army prepare to travel south.
They will paint Wembley black and white, with Butt expecting the Newcastle United fans to create a raucous atmosphere on Sunday.
They did that in 2023, with Newcastle fans reducing Amanda Staveley to tears as they waved their flags in unison.
