Ian Wright claims £50m Liverpool target is 'so good' amid talks of possible summer move

It is set to be a summer of change for Arne Slot’s side with several ins and outs expected at Anfield.

The contract situations of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk have got FSG planning for the future ahead of the summer window.

Alexander-Arnold’s possible replacements have already been touted, meanwhile, Liverpool are targeting new attackers in preparation of a Salah departure.

Van Dijk’s possible exit has seen the Reds be linked with a whole host of defenders, with Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen reportedly on Liverpool’s radar.

With the likes of Real Madrid also interested in Huijsen, Ian Wright has just told Liverpool exactly why they need to step up their interest in the young defender.

Ian Wright praises Liverpool target Dean Huijsen

Bournemouth’s success has been one of the stories of the season so far, with a few of their players in particular lighting up the Premier League this campaign.

Liverpool-linked Milos Kerkez has been exceptional, meanwhile fellow Cherries defender Huijsen has also caught the attention of fans.

Arsenal legend Wright has particularly been impressed by the 19-year-old centre-back, recently singing the praises of the Bournemouth man on his podcast ‘Wrighty’s House’.

“Wow. You know what I mean? Linked with everyone. I think he’s got a £50m buyout. I think he came from, I think, Malaga Academy and I think, was it Juventus?

“Yeah, loan at Roma last season, and like I say, they’re all after him – they all want him.

“There are people talking £50m, right? He is, what, 6’5, right? He can come out with a ball. He could do everything.

“He is so good, 6’5, dribbling like that, passing – do you see his passing from the back.

“I cannot believe that Juventus have let this guy go – was it €15m? I can’t remember what it was. But that for me is, you watch him, just watch his highlight reel if you can get to see it.

“I’m not joking, if you’re, if you’re watching that, you cannot not be impressed. You can’t, with what you see him do.

“You know, what you see him do. I cannot believe, even when he went on loan to Roma, went back to Juventus and then Bournemouth.

“And then what vexes me more than anything else is that, with all due respect, Bournemouth can find these kinds of players.

“That is genius, cause they’re talking 50 million now for this guy.”

Hujisen could be perfect Virgil van Dijk understudy

Van Dijk is crucial to Liverpool in terms of his impact on and off the pitch and if the Dutchman remains at Anfield next season – he could have a huge part to play in Huijsen’s potential Reds move.

Despite exceptional performances this season, Huijsen is still only 19 years old, meaning he still has a lot to learn at the top level.

So what better way to learn your trade than to be the understudy of Van Dijk?
