'I'm really pleased': Ian Wright insists one Everton ace has actually been 'unbelievable' since …

David Moyes has done lots of great things since returning to Everton.

Just a couple of months ago, Everton supporters were concerned about the club’s situation.

David Moyes had actually just been appointed, but Everton were sitting just above the relegation zone, and some had reservations about the Scot coming back for a second spell.

But the appointment could not have worked out any better, with Everton now 16 points clear of the drop zone.

The biggest thing Moyes has done is to raise the confidence of a previously beleaguered squad. He is largely working with the same players as Sean Dyche was, but he has got a tune out of them where his predecessor couldn’t.

One of the biggest beneficiaries of Moyes returning to Everton has been Beto – and for Arsenal legend and pundit Ian Wright, the striker’s improvement is some of the manager’s finest work so far.

Wright was speaking about Beto after Everton drew 1-1 with Wolves at Molineux.

There was no goal for Beto, who was denied by a brilliant save by Jose Sa in the second-half.

But for Wright, the recent rise of Beto represents some of Moyes’ very best work at Everton since his return to the club.

Speaking on the Kelly & Wrighty Show, he said: “One of the things I’m really pleased to see is how he’s got something out of Beto.

“For me what they’re doing now, he’s running onto things. He’s not having too many touches. When he’s running onto it to go and finish, he tried another one the other day but telegraphed a bit and opened himself up too early.

“But to see that David Moyes has recognised to get this guy running onto things. His skill is not holding up, his skill is running into space and opening space for people.

“Moyes recognised that instantly. He looks like a constant threat. Unbelievable honestly.”

Moyes stopped Everton from losing Beto

While Beto has missed a few good chances across the last couple of games, his form since Moyes arrived has been superb.

Undoubtedly he has benefitted from the injuries to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja.

But it’s been so good to see Beto – a player who clearly cares deeply about what he does, and succeeding at this club – finally thriving at Goodison Park, after struggling for opportunities for so long.

Beto being among the PFA Player of the Month nominees for February was certainly satisfying.

Beto recently admitted he might have left Everton had it not been for Moyes’ arrival, and fans will now be delighted that he stayed put.

Torino were especially interested in Beto, who just wasn’t getting minutes under Dyche.

But the injuries combined with Moyes’ belief in the player has now changed the picture significantly for Beto.
