Anthony Elanga makes major U-turn after silence at Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest are in fine form in the Premier League and Anthony Elanga has been a man producing the goods in recent months.

The Swedish star took some time to get going this season but after scoring against Aston Villa in December, the winger has taken his game to another level.

Elanga did something remarkable in the game against Ipswich recently. On current form, he’s an extremely important player in the squad and works well in tandem with Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Forest parted with £15 million to land Elanga from Manchester United and right now, Ruben Amorim might be wishing he had a winger like the Forest man in his squad.

In November, some strange news came out about the Forest man. Due to his poor form, Elanga was omitted from the Sweden squad and a bust-up seemingly took place with head coach Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Now, however, an update has emerged on that particular situation.

Anthony Elanga makes U-turn on Sweden ahead of international fixtures

It would appear that a compromise has been reached with Tomasson and Elanga kissed and making up ahead of the next round of international fixtures later this month.

Elanga has registered nine assists this season alongside three goals and clearly the national team head coach is keen to get him involved ahead of the forthcoming World Cup qualifying campaign.

Tomasson said to Aftonbladet: “Anthony has contacted me and wants to be part of the national team.

“What happens between a coach and a player stays within the team. We have had many good conversations. He is extremely positive. We have seen all the matches, and he has performed really well.”

Forest will be desperately hoping that Elanga doesn’t pick up any niggles whilst he’s away on international duty for a couple of weeks.

The Reds are on the cusp of something very special this season and they need every single player as fit as possible between now and the end of the season.

Forest have done superbly well to be in this position and hopefully, things can continue in a positive fashion with Champions League football firmly in the team’s sights.

Elanga has become vitally important to the way in which Nuno Espirito Santo’s team play and hopefully some minutes for Sweden can further enhance his confidence.
