'Biggest dream': The real reason Mads Hermansen could leave Leicester City as ambition outlined

Supporters of Leicester City should brace themselves for a fire sale in the summer, with several stars expected to depart.

Relegation is looking nailed on for the Foxes, and therefore, Leicester could suffer the heartache of losing their best players.

Bilal El Khannouss could play for a team like Arsenal, according to one of his former coaches Michel Ribeiro, while Mads Hermansen is another who is likely to be sold.

Manchester United are interested in Hermansen, and they could pounce to sign the towering Dane in the summer, with other clubs no doubt looking to sign the 24-year-old.

Hermansen’s dream is to achieve Premier League glory, something that isn’t currently possible at the King Power Stadium, and that, surprisingly, isn’t his biggest ambition.

Mads Hermansen’s ‘biggest dream’ is to become Denmark’s No.1

While the Leicester shot-stopper could join a big club in the summer, it could also enable him to achieve his ‘biggest dream’ which is replacing Kasper Schmeichel as Denmark’s No.1.

Schmeichel, who currently plays for Celtic after leaving the Foxes in 2022, remains his nation’s first-choice between the sticks.

But as he’s 38-years-old, retirement is surely around the corner, and Hermansen has outlined his ambition to take the number one jersey from him after never making an appearance.

“Kasper is now in Scotland, I’m here and the third keeper [Frederik] Ronnow is in Germany, so you listen to each other and everyone has different experiences and different cultures and a different way of doing things, goalkeeper-wise as well, but also personally,” Hermansen said via the official Leicester City app.

“Of course, we are still working together to improve every day in the national team and that’s what we’ll try to do.

“It’s one of the biggest dreams that I have (to play for the national team), not only a dream but also what I want to achieve. I’m working hard every day and trying to show in the games that I belong in the national team and to take the step to being No.1.”

Mark Schwarzer stunned by what Hermansen did against Chelsea

Leicester lost 1-0 against Chelsea but the shot-stopper did his chances of becoming Denmark’s first-choice no harm after a stunning performance.

He saved Cole Palmer’s penalty, which ended the Englishman’s incredible 100% record from the spot, while former Premier League goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer praised Hermansen for his ‘excellent’ save.

“It’s a brilliant save from Mads Hermansen. He waits till the last second. Cole Palmer hit it with power and it’s really great save,” Schwarzer said.

It had been a rocky few weeks for the youngster, having conceded 12 goals in four matches before heading to Stamford Bridge however, he showed why he’s destined for the top with his most recent display.
