If the Pittsburgh Steelers want to continue building out their wide receiver corps, they could have another top option in free agency. The Los Angeles Rams are set to release Cooper Kupp, who could be put right in the slot for the Steelers.
The Rams tried to trade Kupp, but no teams seemed to be interested in trading for the 32-year-old wide receiver who was once the NFL’s triple-crown winner.
Since his standout 2000-yard receiving season, Kupp has dealt with injuries. He had not played in more than 12 games with injuries cropping up. This season, he missed nearly half the year with a high ankle sprain.
Kupp plays mostly in the slot, notching over 450 snaps there in 2024 compared to just around 100 outside. However, he is a great blocker. Injuries have hit Kupp throughout his career, however, and that is becoming a huge issue as he starts to slow down the older he gets. The Steelers should still be in on it, and they have the room to accommodate any contract Kupp would want.
