Aston Villa will reportedly look to seal a permanent deal for 29-year-old Spanish international Marco Asensio in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Give Me Sport, Marco Asensio has compelled Aston Villa to pursue a permanent move heading into the summer transfer window with his exploits in his first month at Villa Park. So, the Villans have contacted Paris Saint-Germain to discuss a deal for the Spanish international with the Ligue 1 champions.
Marco Asensio and his resurgence at Aston Villa
Marco Asensio has made his mark since joining Aston Villa from Paris Saint-Germain on a loan deal until the end of the 2024/25 season. The Spaniard struggled to stamp his authority in 18 months with PSG after sealing a Bosman move in the wake of his departure from Real Madrid as a free agent.
However, the 29-year-old has left his struggles behind at PSG, amassing five goals in seven appearances across all competitions thus far, earning multiple wins for Aston Villa. So, it is hardly surprising that the West Midlands club will look to seal a permanent move for Asensio in the summer transfer window.
The Spanish international attacker’s £125,000-a-week wages should not pose a problem for Aston Villa, especially if he continues his form in the final months of the 2024/25 season. Meanwhile, the former Real Madrid attacker will not cost a bomb, with PSG not slapping a high price tag on him.
Will Asensio remain in England?
Aston Villa’s desire to seal a permanent deal for Marco Asensio is understandable. With Leon Bailey blowing hot and cold in the last 12 months, completing a move for the former Real Madrid forward for a cut-price fee makes him an appealing target for the West Midlands outfit.
The Villans have already approached PSG to discuss a permanent deal for Asensio, with Les Parisiens demanding around €15 million to part ways with the Spaniard. With the 29-year-old at the peak of his powers, Aston Villa’s eagerness to seal a cut-price move is understandable.
Aston Villa and PSG are in “active talks” over a possible permanent deal for the Spanish international. It will be interesting to see if Asensio can continue his form and remain at Villa Park beyond the summer transfer window.
