Mason Mount is back training again with his Manchester United team-mates following a three-month injury absence.

The club's open training session at Carrington, before their Europa League round of 16 second leg against Real Sociedad, saw the midfielder in action for the first time this year. Mount has been out since suffering a hamstring injury during the Manchester derby in mid-December.

Photos from Wednesday morning showed him participating in rondos with his team-mates and in conversation with Manuel Ugarte, who also returned to training. United shared several images, plus a video of Mount in action, on their social media channels.

The first Instagram post, captioned "Back to work for Mason, received likes from the player himself, plus Andre Onana, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Leny Yoro - who did not train because of a foot injury that will keep the teenager out until the international break - and Joshua Zirkzee. Their reel, captioned Mason's back in the mix, also garnered likes from Fernandes and Onana.

Besides liking the club's initial post, Mount has not acknowledged his return and has not posted on Instagram since the injury. How he captioned that post, though, has proved prescient.

"United fans," the caption, in part, reads, "you may not know me too well yet, but one thing I can guarantee, I will never give up or lose faith. I've said this before, but I will continue to give everything, get through this tough period and won't stop until that's achieved."

Mount also has a second chance again to deliver on what Ruben Amorim said in November. "I know he was suffering from injuries," the United head coach told club media on the eve of his first match in charge, "he was not on the pitch, but now he's trying to stay fit, and we hope he can continue to be fit, to show all the talent that he's shown, for example, in Chelsea."
