The San Antonio Spurs will attempt to snack a three-game losing streak tonight when they host the Dallas Mavericks at the Frost Bank Center. The Spurs have a record of 26-37, while the Mavs are 33-33.
San Antonio’s latest loss came at the hands of the Mavs. On Monday, Dallas was red-hot offensively and ran away with a 133-129 road victory. The Spurs got strong showings from Harrison Barnes (29 points and eight rebounds on 12-for-14 shooting from the field) and Keldon Johnson (28 points and five rebounds on 10-for-16 shooting) but it wasn’t enough.
This is the Spurs second game of a four-game homestand. San Antonio finishes the homestand with games on Friday versus the Charlotte Hornets and Saturday against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Including tonight’s game, the Mavericks play seven of their next ten on the road. Dallas is the tenth seed in the Western Conference. In order to make the play-in tournament in the West, they will have to hold off the Phoenix Suns, who enter today with a record of 30-35.
San Antonio Spurs Injury Update
Unfortunately, there are a number of names on the injury report for the Spurs. Of course, Victor Wembanyama remains out for the season with a blood clot in his shoulder. Charles Bassey will miss another game due to a knee injury. In the last five weeks, Bassey has only been able to play in two games due to various knee injuries.
Jeremy Sochan is listed as questionable for tonight’s game. He was listed as doubtful prior to Monday’s game and he missed that contest with a calf injury. There’s a better chance that he plays tonight, though.
A new addition to the injury report, Devin Vassell is listed as questionable with a bruised wrist. Vassell suffered the injury when he took a hard fall on Monday night.
Dallas Mavericks Injury Update
Injuries continue to be a major problem for the Mavericks. Kyrie Irving is out for the season due to a torn ACL. Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford, Dereck Lively II, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, Kai Jones and Jaden Hardy are also listed as out for tonight’s affair.
PJ Washington, Dante Exum and Brandon Williams are all listed as questionable to play tonight against the Spurs. On Monday, the Mavs only had eight players in uniform when they defeated the Spurs. Dallas will once again be short-handed tonight.
Betting Guide: Spurs at Mavericks
The Spurs are favored by 6.5 points and the over/under is 236 points. The smart money is on the Spurs winning by seven or more points. San Antonio should be extra motivated after Monday’s loss and the short-handed Mavs can’t play much better than they did on that night.
