How Giants are trying to lure Aaron Rodgers: ‘(They) have had great conversations’

Wednesday afternoon, Aaron Rodgers' time with the Jets will officially come to an end.

But could the four-time NFL MVP be staying in New York?

The Giants have been known to be interested in potentially bringing Rodgers into their quarterback room. According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Giants are also pitching the possibility of pairing Rodgers up with their star receiver, Malik Nabers.

“I know that [Malik Nabers] has been part of the conversation with Aaron Rodgers,” Garafolo said on NFL Network. “The Giants have had great conversations with Aaron Rodgers from my understanding. And part of it is [the Giants saying,] ‘We think that you and Malik Nabers are really gonna vibe. This is a guy that has incredible football IQ. We moved him around as a rookie, he played everywhere, he soaks it all up, he’s great during the week, he’s great on Sundays. We know you ask a lot of your wide receivers and this is a guy that can handle it and will probably thrive, and the kind of guy that helps you thrive as well.‘”

The Giants have been among teams linked to Rodgers after missing out on QB Matthew stafford. The Giants were “hellbent” on acquiring Stafford, according to a person who spoke to NJ Advance Media’s Ryan Novozinsky, and even discussed a two-year deal between $90-100 million, per The Athletic’s Dianna Russini. But Stafford’s dalliance around the league ended where he started the offseason: with the Rams.

In 17 games with the Jets last season, Rodgers went 5-12. He completed 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Rodgers' official release will come at 4pm on Wednesday.
