The Cleveland Browns are trying to figure out their quarterback for the 2025 season. On Monday, the Browns traded for Philadelphia Eagles backup quarterback Kenny Pickett, but it doesn’t seem like he will be the Week 1 starter.
With the Browns holding the No. 2 pick in this year’s NFL Draft, they could take a young rookie quarterback there. If Cleveland decides to take a rookie quarterback, they still will need a veteran to help start during the first part of the season.

The Browns have few options with limited veteran quarterbacks in the open market. If the Pittsburgh Steelers go in a different direction and not bring Russell Wilson back, he could head to the 216 area.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported, “Free-agent QB Russell Wilson is scheduled to fly tonight to Cleveland to visit with the Browns on Thursday.”
Wilson played in 11 games last season for the Steelers and was named to his tenth Pro Bowl after throwing 2,482 yards and 16 touchdowns. Wilson won a Super Bowl ring with the Seattle Seahawks in his second NFL season.
Wilson is 36 and should have a few more seasons left in him, so if the Browns sign him, he could be the starter for the entire 2025 season and maybe even longer.
