Man Utd are in the market to sign a proven Serie A forward

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is reportedly pushing to make a marquee summer move for highly-rated Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic as he attempts to turn his team’s fortunes around in the 2025/26 campaign after a difficult start to his career in the Old Trafford dugout.

Goals have been hard to come by at United this season and together both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have only managed to muster up five goals between them in the Premier League after 28 matches.

Overall, The Red Devils are the sixth lowest scorers in the league this season, with only West Ham, Everton and the newly-promoted trio of Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town finding the net on fewer occasions.

Vlahovic, who has been amongst Europe’s top scoring strikers over the last five years is seen as the calibre of player that can help convert more of United’s chances into goals and could be available for a cut-price fee this summer after a major development in Turin.

Man Utd plot ambitious Dusan Vlahovic

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe told Gary Neville that the long-term ambition remains to make the team the best in class despite a difficult first 12 months in charge.

One of the main areas in dire need of improvement is the strike-force and for that reason Give Me Sport sources reports that Dusan Vlahovic is a player at the top of United’s wishlist, both due to his impressive track record, his age and his price tag which is expected to be more than feasible for the recruitment team despite their PSR constraints.

Give Me Sport explains that the Serbian international will have just 12 months remaining on his contract with Juventus by the start of next season and understands that talks over a renewal have stalled in recent months. The outlet adds that the Turin based side may be willing to sell the striker for a cut-price fee of around £25m in the summer rather than losing one of their prized assets on a free transfer 12 months later.

Why Man Utd are interested in Dusan Vlahovic

Dusan Vlahovic has long been considered one of the top strikers in Italian football. The Partizan Belgrade academy graduate made a name for himself in Italy with Fiorentina in the 2020/21 season when he scored a breathtaking 21 goals in 37 games. He followed that up by scoring 17 goals in 21 matches during the first half of the following season before completing a £66.6m transfer to Juventus who were able to notably beat Arsenal to the signature of the Serbian forward.

Since signing for Juventus, Vlahovic has scored 86 goals in 195 games, including 14 in 34 games across all competitions this season. Vlahovic is an old school number nine, blessed with excellent aerial ability, strength, aggression and a phenomenal eye for goal.

He has also registered 13 goals in 32 matches at international level and has struck up an excellent strike partnership with former Fulham frontman Aleksandr Mitrovic.
