Champions League LIVE: Gallagher 28 second goal in Madrid derby, Zinchenko and Rice strike, Villa goalless against 10

ARSENAL and Aston Villa are 45 minutes away from booking their place in the Champions League last-eight.

The biggest game of the night sees the Madrid derby between Atletico and fierce rivals Real - with Connor Gallagher giving Atleti the lead just 28 SECONDS into the match to make it 2-2 on aggregate.

The Gunners bring a 7-1 lead back to the Emirates following their shellacking of PSV last week in the Netherlands and Oleksandr Zinchenko scored within five minutes to add another before Declan Rice made it 2-1.

Aston Villa were victorious on their Benelux travels, with a late double handing them all the initiative against Belgian side Club Brugge.

Earlier, Borussia Dortmund came from a goal down to beat Lille in France to reach the quarters.

Kick-off: 5.45pm GMT / 8pm GMT

Raheem Sterling looks like a new man! Remarkable what a bit of confidence does.

The two assists he has tonight has doubled his tally for the entire season. All he needs now is a goal to round off this return to form.

Not that it will earn him a start this weekend, ineligible to play against his parent club Chelsea on Sunday...

After making the perfect start to the match, Atletico have sat back on their lead since.

Real are struggling to lay a glove on their local rivals so far.

This match is finely poised as we head into the second-half.

The Belgians started this match in confident fashion, taking the game to Unai Emery's side.

However, a red card for Sabbe for Club Brugge has really taken the wind out of their sails.

Emery's side need a goal to put this tie to bed now.

HT: Arsenal 2-1 PSV (AGG: 9-2)

It has been a much more open game than the reverse leg.

PSV pegged The Gunners back after they took the lead, before Arsenal restored their lead.

It looks like the Dutch side have forgotten all about the first leg and the tie as a whole, looking to win tonight's game.

Everyone knows the history of this tie in the Champions League and it never ends well for Atletico. Real always find a way.

But the signs are good for Diego Simeone's side so far.

Real have seen more of the ball but have been ponderous, while the hosts are playing with incredible energy and look to be on double speed compared to their rivals.

That could cost them if the tank runs out too early, but so far so good.

He clips a cross into the box and Rice arrives to head home.

What a start we've had here.

Villa were taking a bit of a battering from a pumped up Brugge when the Belgians shot themselves in the foot.

Emi Martinez launched a 60-yard pass over the visitors defence and Marcus Rashford was off like a greyhound chasing a hare.

Poor Kyriani Sabbe did his best to halt him but grabbed him and then sent him toppling with a clip of his heels.

Ref Daniel Siebert reached for his red card and suddenly Villa's task looked a lot easier with Brugge reduced to 10 men.

Sabbe has been shown a straight red card for a lunge.

The Belgians will have to do it the hard way now.

What an incredible start for Atletico, and Conor Gallagher.

All the English attention would have been on Jude Bellingham tonight and the ex-Chelsea midfielder has made his mark in seconds.

It is only his second start in Atletico's last 11 games.

The top tier in the Metropolitano is literally shaking as the home fans bounce up and down.

Unai Emery already has one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals - his task tonight is to firmly plant his remaining foot there.

If he succeeds, the Spaniard will be rewarded with a mouth-watering last-eight showdown with Paris Saint-Germain, the club who dumped him after he won a domestic quadruple in 2018!

Villa did most of the heavy lifting last week in Bruges, winning 3-1.

However the Belgians won 3-1 against Atalanta in Bergamo in the last round and believe they can pull off a miracle tonight.

Club Brugge have never won in 14 previous trips to England.

Villa, with Marcus Rashford on from the start will be confident they can extend that miserable run

After their magnificent seven out in Belgium last week, The Gunners' fans are hoping to see plenty more this evening.
