Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to miss the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United on Sunday due to injury.
The right-back was forced off with an ankle problem during the second half of Tuesday night's Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield. Initial fears suggested he could be out for the remainder of the season after an awkward fall in a challenge with PSG's Vitinha, where he seemed to twist his knee.
However, according to the Mail, Alexander-Arnold has managed to avoid a serious injury and it's hoped he'll return to play for the Reds before the season concludes. His contract on Merseyside is due to expire after this campaign, and there is ongoing interest from Real Madrid.
Alexander-Arnold was among several players missing from Liverpool's squad for last season's Carabao Cup final victory over Chelsea, including Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai, in which Virgil van Dijk netted the extra-time winner, securing a 1-0 victory for a depleted Reds side.

His absence from Sunday's final against Newcastle will be a significant setback for Liverpool, who are also currently without Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez. Jarell Quansah replaced Alexander-Arnold against PSG, but he is more naturally a centre-back.
England manager Thomas Tuchel is also facing a setback with Trent Alexander-Arnold's injury potentially ruling him out of selection for the upcoming Three Lions squad announcement on Friday.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot couldn't give a definitive update on Alexander-Arnold's condition on Wednesday, but he did share some encouraging news regarding French defender Ibrahima Konate, who had to be replaced during the extra-time battle with PSG.
Speaking about Konate, Slot remarked: "With Ibou, we expected only it to be that he was tired or he had some cramps so we are hoping and expecting that he will be ready to play Sunday again."
