Stephen Curry Delivers Verdict on Future of Playing Career

Stephen Curry is one of the greatest NBA players of all time and is undoubtedly the best to ever suit up for the Golden State Warriors. Over the summer, he teamed up with LeBron James and Kevin Durant during the 2024 Paris Olympics and won his first gold medal, which many saw as the icing on the cake of his illustrious career.

At 36 years old, Curry is still one of the very best players in the NBA and is well on the way to leading the Dubs into the playoffs this season, and he and his teammates seem to think they can go on a deep run.

Of course, the end is getting close, and both he and Draymond Green know that the best years are likely behind them and their playing days are nearing a close. In a recent interview, he explained how much longer he thinks he will play.

"I know my contract is lined up, and I'd like to outplay that, for sure," he told 95.7 The Game on Wednesday.

During the 2026-27 NBA season, which is the last on his contract, Curry will make $62.6 million. The same year, he will turn 39 and will likely be well beyond his prime, although he has continued to defy the odds throughout his entire career, so it's impossible to rule him out.

By then, he likely might not be worth a max contract, although if he wants to return, the Warriors will likely offer a contract extension or a new deal entirely.

It's interesting to notice that when he and his team is playing well, he insists he wants to keep playing for as long as possible, but during the start of the season when the Dubs were spiraling, he was a little more nonchalant.

A very honest answer to the question can be expected at the end of the season, regardless of when (if?) the Warriors are eliminated.
