The Washington Commanders added more defensive line depth Wednesday to fill the role vacated by the recently released Jonathan Allen. Washington agreed to a one-year deal with veteran defensive tackle Eddie Goldman, according to multiple reports.
The financial terms of the deal were not immediately available on Wednesday.
Goldman, 31, spent last season as a member of the Atlanta Falcons. He recorded one sack and 16 tackles in 17 games.
The District native has missed several NFL seasons since the Chicago Bears drafted him in the second round in 2015. He opted out of the 2020 season due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic.
He announced his retirement from football in 2022, less than two weeks after signing with the Falcons.
Goldman returned to the field last season and was a rotational player for Atlanta. The 320-pounder projects to fill a similar role in Washington alongside fellow signing Javon Kinlaw and returning defensive tackles Daron Payne and Jer’Zhan Newton.
