Jamie Carragher had to make an unexpected exit from CBS Sports’ Champions League coverage on Wednesday night, with host Kate Scott confirming he was taken ill.
The Anfield icon was part of the pre-match build-up, but as the broadcast shifted back to the studio post-half-time, Carragher was notably absent and needed time off-screen to recuperate.
Carragher, sitting alongside Thierry Henry, Micah Richards, and anchor Kate Scott earlier, had taken his usual spot on the panel, evaluating that evening's games. It came following his time off on Tuesday when he was at Anfield for Liverpool’s disappointing European loss to Paris Saint-Germain.
Throughout the earlier segments of the show, Carragher actively participated and even recounted an amusing encounter with an Arsenal-supporting train conductor during his commute from Liverpool to London.
However, during the half-time interval, as the panel reconvened, it became apparent that Carragher wasn’t present, prompting the host and fellow pundits to question his whereabouts before Kate Scott informed viewers the former defender was feeling under the weather, albeit not seriously ill.
Earlier, Scott had light-heartedly remarked on Carragher’s return to the panel after witnessing his former team’s elimination from the Champions League, likening it to coming back with a 'tail between his legs'.

As she welcomed him initially, she introduced the lineup saying: "Hello, welcome to our London studios. I am Kate Scott and I am once again joined by Thierry Henry and Micah Richards.
"Tonight, just like the story of the prodigal son. A bit too big for his boots, he thought life would be sweeter on the road. He thought he would be away, enjoying drinking and revelling, but he took a major loss and realised his foolishness.
"He came home, humbled. Hoping that he would be accepted. Jamie Carragher, back in the chair".
