Josh Myers was one of the toughest Green Bay Packers in many moons.
Myers played through a torn pectoral minor the last six games of 2024. He played the final eight games with a brace on his left wrist.
Heck, Myers even became an internet sensation after vomiting on the football during a Week 2 game against the Indianapolis Colts — and not leaving the field.
But the Packers opted not to try retaining Myers, and Green Bay’s center the last four years is now on the move.
According to ESPN, Myers signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal with the New York Jets Wednesday evening. Myers will be reunited quarterback Justin Fields — his former Ohio State teammate — who also signed with the Jets this week.
“I can’t say enough good things about Josh Myers, not only as a player but as a leader,” Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said at the end of the 2024 campaign. “He really does embody kind of a Green Bay Packer and what we’re looking for and how they’re wired.
“I thought he had a really good year, fought through some things. I’m really glad we’ve had him for the last four years.”
Myers played 1,091 of 1,094 snaps (99.73%) in 2022, more than any of Green Bay’s offensive lineman. Myers held off a challenge from both Sean Rhyan and Zach Tom in the summer of 2023, then had his best season playing 1,089 snaps (99.4%) — more than anyone on the roster.

Despite his injuries in 2024, Myers played 1,008 of 1,084 snaps (93.0%) and was a Pro Bowl alternate. And when Myers had his streak of 43 consecutive starts stopped on Nov. 3 against Detroit, the Packers had their poorest offensive performance of the regular season.
Myers finished the year allowing only one sack and five quarterback hits.
Myers did allow 29 quarterback pressures. And at times, he struggled in the run game.
Myers won plenty of points for his toughness, though, especially the pectoral injury that sidelined teammates like tight end Tucker Kraft and right tackle Zach Tom for much of the 2024 offseason.
“Yeah Josh, I thought he had his best year,” Gutekunst said. “I thought he dealt with some things during this year that were tough, and I thought he fought through it like a champion, and was certainly an asset to our football team.”
Myers was a highly-respected teammate and leader on what was the NFL’s youngest roster.
Myers received Green Bay’s Ed Block Courage Award, which recognizes NFL players who best exemplify commitments to the principles of sportsmanship and courage. Myers lost his father, Brad, to lung cancer in July, 2024.
Instead of making a run for Myers, though, the Packers officially signed free agent guard Aaron Banks to a four-year, $77 million contract on Wednesday. Green Bay’s plan now is to move Banks to left guard, and former left guard Elgton Jenkins to center.
Late in the 2024 season, Myers expressed a desire to remain in Green Bay. It takes two to dance, though, and the Packers went in a different direction.
“I’m a person of faith. I trust in God,” Myers said. “However it pans out, it pans out, and I’ll believe that’s the way it was meant to be. So, just trying to have that mindset and let everything work itself out.”
