Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will not be returning to the New York Jets in 2025. Earlier this offseason, the team informed him that they were going in a different direction at the quarterback position and that he was going to be released with a post-June 1 designation.
Since then, the Jets have signed former Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields. Rodgers, meanwhile, is rumored to have three different NFL teams interested in his services: the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, and Steelers.
But while Rodgers will not be returning to New York, his old center from Green Bay will be added to the team.

On Wednesday evening, it was reported that now former Packers center Josh Myers has signed a one-year deal with the Jets:

As Fowler notes above, Myers was college teammates with Fields at Ohio State.
The thing is, though, it is not really likely that the former Packers center will be the one snapping the ball in New York. Former Wisconsin Badgers center Joe Tippmann was drafted by the Jets in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and has started 31 games for them since entering the league.
This includes all 17 games last season.
Instead, it appears that adding Myers is more about adding depth to their offensive line as the Jets try to improve from their 5-12 record with Rodgers as their quarterback last year.
Myers’ salary of just $3.5 million is also an indication that he did not have a very big market in free agency.
With the Ohio State product gone, Green Bay plans to move Elgton Jenkins to center while inserting the newly signed Aaron Banks at left guard.
