On 7 March, Ambassador Fan Yong and his wife Counselor Cui Yin attended the International Women’s Day Reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy. More than 150 people, including Honorable Ms. Manyeneng, Deputy Speaker of Botswana National Assembly and Senior government officials from Botswana, women representatives from Diplomatic corps, Chinese communities and enterprises participated in the event.
Ambassador Fan extended festival congratulations and best wishes to the guests and said that China will continue to support the development of women and children in Botswana.
Counselor Cui introduced China's achievements in the development of women's cause. She said that China will take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Botswana in the field of women and contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Honorable Speaker Manyeneng thanked the Chinese government for its valuable support for the development of women in Botswana and said that the Botswana side will learn from China's experience to further improve the rights and interests of women in Botswana.
Representatives of Chinese communities performed wonderful art performances and brought cultural experience activities at the reception.
