_Full match player ratings below:_
**Thibaut Courtois—8.5:** The Belgian was massive in goal for Madrid, denying Julian Alvarez on multiple occasions.
**Fede Valverde—8.5:** In the final stages of the match when every other player was depleted, Fede looked like he could play another 90 minutes. Performed admirably at both right back and center midfield.
**Raul Asencio—8.5:** No task is too big for Asencio. The hostile atmosphere of the Metropolitano and a lethal attack of Julian Alvarez and Griezmann did not phase him. Produced one of the defensive plays of the season with a 30 yard run and slide tackle as the last man back to deny Atleti a clear counter towards goal.
**Toni Rudiger—7:** Still looks as if he is nursing an injury and was a step slow in certain defensive sequences. Aerial presence was crucial in clearing crosses and winning headers. Came up big yet again with the game-winning penalty in the shootout.
**Ferland Mendy—6:** For large stretches of the game defended well against Giuliano Simeone. Slipped when in possession which nearly led to an Atleti goal and was caught on the ball on more than one occasion.
**Tchouameni—6.5:** Played well in the middle of the park but his game was influenced after he picked up a yellow card.
**Luka Modric—7:** Was running the show for 65 minutes trying to find a way through a resolute Atleti defense.
**Jude Bellingham—8.5:** Really came alive in the latter stages of the game playing just behind Mbappe. Worked tirelessly defensively and terrified the Atletico defense whenever he was able to turn and run at their backline. Added the little bit of quality to Madrid’s game in the final third, keeping possession in tight spaces just outside the Atleti box.
**Rodrygo—6.5:** Not as effective as he was in the first leg but gave Madrid much needed width on the right flank. As always, worked tremendously hard off the ball to help the team.
**Vinicius Junior—5.5:** Not at his best on the night often running into multiple defenders. Marcos Llorente was able to compete with the Brazilian through pure athleticism. Missed the penalty which would have given Madrid the advantage late in the second half.
**Kylian Mbappe—6:** Never quite sure which Kylian Mbappe you will get in a Madrid shirt: the player who scored a hat trick against City or the frustrated figure he was tonight. Despite a subpar game, had one moment of brilliance running at the Atleti backline with time and space, resulting in a penalty.
**Substitutions:**
**Eduardo Camavinga—9:** Man of the match despite playing 55 minutes off the bench. Transformed Madrid’s game and re-titled the momentum back in Madrid’s favor. Best match of the season from Camavinga.
**Brahim Diaz—7:** His movement was difficult for the Atletico backline to track. Drew several fouls in dangerous areas.
**Lucas Vazquez—7:** Moved Valverde into midfield and provided fresh legs with no drop off.
**Fran Garcia—6:** Replaced Ferland Mendy after the Frenchman’s muscle injury and stuck do his job well.
**Endrick—N/A:** Late substitution for Vinicius Junior.
