Spurs Topple Mavericks Thanks to Career-Best Performance

On Monday, the San Antonio Spurs fell to the Dallas Mavericks, losing 133-129. That game was close for all 48 minutes, but the Spurs came up short. On Wednesday, the Spurs got their revenge, winning 126-116.

For the second game in a row, Keldon Johnson was solid, following up his 28-point outing with 18 points, although one recent addition had his best game on his new team.

After being traded in February from the Sacramento Kings, it has taken De'Aaron Fox some time to match the high-level scoring numbers that he regularly posted on his old team, but he had the best game of his Spurs career on Wednesday.

He posted 32 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists. He shot 2-7 from 3-point range. Devin Vassell had a solid game as well, scoring 16 points, and Julian Champagnie offered two timely steals.

Unlike in Monday's game, the Spurs were able to take control in the second half and never looked back. They were able to hold Klay Thompson and Spencer Dinwiddie to 12 and 14 points, respectively, and Dallas was led by Brandon Williams' 19 points off the bench.

Both the Spurs and Mavericks have struggled with injuries and illnesses this season, and have wrapped up the yearly series with the Mavs taking a 3-1 lead.

The Spurs should be able to pick up two more wins during this homestand, with their next two contests coming against the lowly Charlotte Hornets and New Orleans Pelicans.
