Cardinals Agree to $29 Million Deal With Former Browns Defender

After a slow couple of days, the Arizona Cardinals have found another upgrade for their defense.

They started out free agency with a big move, landing former Philadelphia Eagles' edge Josh Sweat to improve a pass rush that struggled in 2024.

However, they missed out on Sweat's teammate, defensive tackle Milton Williams, who was believed to be the organization's top target and was seen as the best DT in this year's free agent class.

That left Cardinals fans wondering how the team would address an interior defensive line that was disappointing last season.

Now the fans have gotten their answer.

SportsTrust Advisors, who are the agency that represents former Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson, announced that Tomlinson had agreed to terms on a deal with the Cardinals.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport later added that the deal is worth $29 million over two years with $16 million in guaranteed money.

Tomlinson has been a solid contributor throughout his eight years in the league.

In his most recent season, Tomlinson was able to make an impact against both the run and pass for the Browns.

According to Pro Football Focus, Tomlinson finished 26th among defensive tackles with 36 total pressures. He turned those pressures into four sacks.

Tomlinson also made 17 stops and received a run defense grade of 64.2, which ranked 40th among defensive tackles.

Now he'll head to a Cardinals team that was among the worst in the league in pressure rate and allowed opposing runners to average the eight-most yards per carry in the league.

The Cardinals needed to make moves along their front seven this offseason and adding Tomlinson to their previous move for Sweat gives them a couple of strong upgrades in the trenches for the 2025 season.
