Quarterback-Needy Browns to Meet with Super Bowl-Winning Free Agent

The Cleveland Browns would most likely like to forget about the name, Deshaun Watson. After a second Achilles tear in three months back in January, Watson is likely done for 2025 - and maybe for good in Cleveland.

As the Browns now try to find his replacement, they've already traded for Kenny Pickett, who's expected to compete for the starting job this summer. But with who?

It's possible that Cleveland drafts a new franchise quarterback with the No. 2 pick next month, but even if they do, they might want a veteran presence alongside the rookie.

Enter Russell Wilson.

The Browns have scheduled a meeting with the 36-year-old former Super Bowl champion quarterback. He's a 10-time Pro Bowler who played in 11 games for the rival Steelers last season.

In those 11 games, Wilson threw for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and just five interceptions.

It would be hoped that he can turn around the Browns' league-worst turnover differential of -22 last season after suffering 11 lost fumbles and 23 interceptions.

If Wilson signs with the Browns he would almost certainly immediately become the starter, even with a rookie quarterback taken in the draft.
