Cody White among 4 Seahawks not tendered, now unrestricted free agents

The Seattle Seahawks created more unrestricted free agents without actually cutting anybody.

With the 2025 league year underway on Wednesday, any player not tendered as either a restricted or exclusive rights free agent would immediately flip to unrestricted status. That applied to four Seahawks at the official start of free agency:

WR Cody White

LB Josh Ross

WR/KR Jaelon Darden

OLB Joshua Onujiogu

White had a couple of big catches and a blocked punt against the Los Angeles Rams back in Week 9, but otherwise didn’t factor into the offense during the regular season. The intrigue with White grew after some impressive preseason performances with Sam Howell at quarterback.

Ross was exclusively on special teams while Onujiogu has generally been injured and placed on IR in consecutive preseasons.

Darden is the interesting name because he was the option at kick and punt returner for Seattle following the horrendous Dee Williams/Laviska Shenault Jr experience, averaging 7.5 yards per punt return and 28.4 yards per kick return. The Seahawks are set to bring in RB/KR Julius Chestnut for a visit after he wasn’t tendered by the Tennessee Titans.
