A round-up of the biggest new Premier League transfer rumours, featuring news from Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and more...
It can be hard to keep up with the sheer number of transfer rumours doing the rounds these days – happily, we’re here to help out with our daily round-up of some of the biggest new Premier League transfer stories.
To kick-start things today, TBR Football have a story which alleges that both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur had scouts in Milan last night to watch Inter’s 2-1 win over Feyenoord – but it was a player from the visiting side that they were compiling a report on.
The player in question is 27-year-old Slovakian centre-back Dávid Hancko, who Feyenoord “are open” to selling this summer, although there’s no word on the price. Liverpool have been keeping tabs on Arne Slot’s former charge too. There have been claims that the Reds considered signing him last summer but were put off by the price. Perhaps it will be a little lower this time around.
The 3AM Verdict: A very capable ball-playing defender, Hancko would suit any side that wants its centre-backs to get the ball down and pass or dribble it very nicely. He’d especially suit a side which tries to press high up the pitch, which sounds a lot like Spurs…
Liverpool join race for rising star
Over to TeamTalk now – they claim that Liverpool are “stepping up” their interest in Bournemouth’s precocious centre-half Dean Huijsen, who has been a revelation since working his way into Andoni Iraola’s starting eleven over the winter.
The likes of Spurs, Manchester United and Real Madrid have all been linked with the 19-year-old Spaniard, and now the Reds are being thrown into the mix (perhaps in case they can’t land Hancko…). A release clause in the gangling defender’s contract means that he would cost £50m come the summer, which could be a bargain based on how he’s been playing so far.
The 3AM Verdict: Huijsen plays a little like a skinnier version of Jarrad Branthwaite, and he’s getting the same sort of interest – as for Liverpool, they’ll definitely been in for a defender so expect to see them linked with a lot of them. They may well like Huijsen, but there’s little detail here to back the story up.
Arsenal aim to beat Newcastle to second-tier star
Let’s finish up today with a story which suggests that Arsenal are intent on spending big on a goalkeeper this summer – not only were they linked elsewhere with Espanyol’s Joan García just a couple of days ago, but now Caught Offside claim that they’re also in the market for Burnley shot-stopper James Trafford.
The youngster has been in imperious form in the second tier this season and it has been widely reported that Newcastle United have made it their mission to sign him to replace Nick Pope this summer – but now there could be “quite the battle” for his signature with Arsenal keen and the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City interested too. He is reportedly valued at around £25m.
The 3AM Verdict: Well, it wouldn’t be the first time that Arsenal have aggressively pursued a change between the sticks despite their goalkeeper being broadly praised for his performances – maybe Trafford will do to David Raya what Raya did to Aaron Ramsdale 18 months ago…
