On March 7th, the Chinese Embassy in Fiji held a celebration for International Women's Day, which was attended by nearly 100 guests including the wives of the Fijian President, Prime Minister, and Speaker, and representatives of the Fiji Women's Rugby Team. Ambassador Zhou Jian delivered a speech, and on behalf of the Embassy handed over donation of 10 thousand Fijian dollars to the Fiji Women's Rugby Team, expressing the Chinese government's firm support for Fiji's women empowerment.

Ambassador Zhou Jian extended festive greetings to all the Chinese and Fijian female friends, saying that China is a a doer in promoting women's development, a champion of the global cause for women's development, and an important partner for women's development in Fiji. He said China and Fiji will make even greater progress in women’s development.

The First Lady Madam Emily Lalabalavu said that Fiji-China relations continue to flourish on the basis of the one-China principle. She said “Women can hold up half the sky” is a shared idea between Fiji and China, and extended sincere thanks to China for its strong support for Fiji's women’s development.
All guests enjoyed together the wonderful cultural performances presented by young women from China and Fiji, and experienced traditional Chinese culture at the cultural exhibition booth.
