Manchester United loanee Tyrell Malacia has officially been eliminated from the Champions League.
PSV were unofficially knocked out of the Champions League a week earlier, when they were thrashed 7-1 at home to Arsenal.
Tyrell Malacia started that game and was dragged down by worse performances around him, but did not cover himself in glory either, as expected when you start in defence and concede seven goals.
He started the second leg at the Emirates, a dead rubber, where PSV were able to earn a little respect back by battling to a 2-2 draw, eliminated 9-3 on aggregate.

Tyrell Malacia still under fire
Tyrell Malacia has did not escape criticism after his first leg performance, which followed some very harsh words after an Eredivisie performance from a PSV legend.
And once again the Manchester United loanee‘s contribution was under the spotlight, called out on Dutch television.
Former PSV defender Andre Ooijer told Ziggo Sport, relayed by Voetbal International that he was unimpressed with the way Malacia got dragged out of position for Arsenal’s first goal.
He attempted to make a challenge, failed to win the ball, opening up space for the Gunners to open the scoring.

Ooijer said: “Obispo has to play that ball back here and then Malacia starts a fifty-fifty duel. That ball simply cannot come out there.”
While Arsenal equalised, PSV went 2-1 up when Raheem Sterling breezed past Malacia and whipped in a cross for Declan Rice to score.
Ooijer said: “We have talked about it before. But that cross just shouldn’t come. Malacia should just get that ball out.
“And what happens in front of the goal afterwards is of course not good either,” he added.
While Malacia made three clearances and three interceptions, he lacked sharpness for both of Arsenal’s goals, and despite the tie already being beyond PSV, the United loanee should have done far better.
Tyrell Malacia’s unwanted record for PSV
Tyrell Malacia has a very unhappy record in the games he has started on loan since signing for PSV in the winter transfer window.
PSV 1-1 Willem II
PSV 1-2 Go Ahead Eagles
Go Ahead Eagles 3-2 PSV
PSV 1-7 Arsenal
Arsenal 2-2 PSV
Through five matches, PSV have failed to a win a single one Tyrell Malacia has started. On aggregate over these games they have been defeated 7-19.
While not all of this can be on Malacia, they have been able to win games he has not started, progressing past Juventus in the Champions League, and winning a league game against Heerenveen at the weekend where he sat on the bench.
PSV do have an option to buy Malacia permanently in the summer. He needs to do more to convince them to take it up.
